ETRA (ACM Symposium on Eye Tracking Research and Applications) focuses on all aspects of eye movement research across a wide range of disciplines. Sponsored by ACM’s special interest groups on computer-human interaction (SIGCHI) and computer graphics (SIGGRAPH), ETRA brings together researchers and practitioners from diverse areas including computer scientists, engineers and behavioral scientists in support of a common vision of moving eye tracking research and its application forward, and expanding its impact. With its intimate size and single track, this symposium is an ideal opportunity to exchange research results and technical experiences.
Accepted papers will be published in the ETRA 2014 Conference Proceedings, and will be included in the ACM Digital Library.
We recommend that prospective authors carefully follow the instructions for each of the submission categories. This document contains information on the reviewing process, including guidelines for an excellent ETRA contribution, and required page formats.
Only electronic submissions may be accepted.
Advances in eye tracking hardware, software and algorithms such as: 2D and 3D eye tracking systems, calibration, low cost eye tracking, natural light eye tracking, predictive models, etc.
Methods, procedures and analysis tools for processing raw gaze data as well as fixations and gaze patterns. Example topics are: scanpath analysis, fixation detection algorithms, automated/adaptive analyses, and visualization techniques of gaze data.
Applied and experimental studies investigating visual attention and eye movements to gain insight in eye movement control, cognition and attention, or for design evaluation of visual stimuli. Examples are: usability and web studies using eye tracking, and eye movement behavior in everyday activities such as driving and reading.
Eye tracking as a human-computer input method, either as a replacement to traditional input methods or as a complement. Examples include: assistive technologies, gaze enhanced interaction and interfaces, multimodal interaction, gaze in augmented and mixed reality systems, biometric eye tracking applications and gaze-contingent displays.
ETRA 2014 is proud to introduce the ETRA Doctoral Symposium, where graduate students get an opportunity to meet other students and experienced researchers to get feedback on their research in a friendly environment. We invite doctoral students, who have a defined topic in the area of eye tracking research and applications, but whose work is still in a phase where it can be influenced by the feedback received in the symposium. Participants will be selected based on a 2-page extended abstract describing the thesis work and its current status. For more information click here!
Have a gaze interaction technique to share? Or want to show off how your new eye tracking method works? At ETRA 2014, we are adding a demo/video session where researchers give demonstrations of their research or show videos of their work. To submit a presentation to this session, authors of short or long papers should select the “submit for demo session” checkbox submitting their paper, or send an email to the demo chair; potential demo presenters who are not paper authors should submit a 2-page extended abstract. For more information click here!
Authors are invited to submit original work in the formats of Long paper (8 pages) and Short paper (4 pages). The papers will undergo a rigorous review process assessing the originality and quality of the work, as well as the relevance for eye tracking research and applications. Papers presented at ETRA 2014 will be available in the ACM digital library. Detailed instructions concerning manuscript preparation and submission can be found here.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The submission process is different from past years, in that there is a single deadline for both long and short papers. Papers which are not accepted after the first round of reviews may be invited to submit a revision (possibly with reduced or increased length). Revised submissions will be re-reviewed, but no new submissions will be accepted for the second round of reviews.
